Interpretation of a garden planted with box, where seasonal blooms create the highlights and the patterns of a dominant clipped hedges structure, even with hoarfrost and snow.
Higher structures of privet and hornbeam hedges around the box and rose garden, the rainwater pond fronting the greenhouse and the building with its intimate inner courtyard, produce a sort of anamorphosis: perspectival trickery can distort views and perceptions.
Seen from the outside, the garden appears quite small, little more than a grouping of shrubs around the house. Views into the interior are blocked and the garden is subsequently only imagined. From the inside, the surrounding landscape is integrated into the view of the garden. It is borrowed from distant panoramas.
