The “Fire Brigade” playground in Bahnstadt Heidelberg was awarded first place at the 2017 German SPIELRAUM Prize
Under the motto “themed playgrounds”, the 2017 German SPIELRAUM Prize awards exemplary play areas with an innovative character. Submissions should be designed with a focus on a specific theme that defines the motto for the playground’s layout, including its topography, planting and equipment. The playgrounds should provide a diverse and creative range of play opportunities.
“We are happy that no less than two of Heidelberg’s playgrounds were nominated for the 2017 SPIELRAUM Prize. The Fire Brigade playground in Bahnstadt has started quite a wave of playground tourism after its completion, as it offers climbing experiences for various age groups…”, Mayor Wolfgang Erichson said about the nomination.
The SPIELRAUM Prize was awarded by the Stadt und Raum Messe und Medien Gesellschaft mbH.
