Open spaces for the new construction of a commercial building consisting of a hotel and flats

The new building spans between two open spaces: the Marienplatz in the northeast and the future expansion of the “Klosterhof” at Schmiedwegerl in the southwest.
In order to emphasise the permeability of the neighbourhood in the sense of the open space planning specifications, a high-quality passageway through the inner courtyard is proposed. A staggered plinth structure in the inner courtyard, in which parts of the retail areas are housed, subdivides this area into a sequence of public spaces of different dimensions and quality, which ensure an attractive passage through the quarter.

The new public spaces are structured into:
1. “At the Marienbrunnen” with outdoor gastronomy
2. “Playground” for children
3. “Maple Courtyard
4. “Klosterhof” with outdoor gastronomy
