Work on the walkway at the Mühldorfer Hart Memorial site has started.

The bunker building site in a woodland near the Upper Bavarian town of Mühldorf claimed more than 5,000 lives at the end of World War II; it was the second largest satellite camp of the Dachau concentration camp.

Work has now started on the walkway that is to remind of the past. Visitors arriving at Forststrasse are taken along a clearly marked path to one of the few remaining legible places, the mass grave.

The walkway ends abruptly in the middle of a clearing with tree trunks sawn-off about 1.7 metres above the ground. Visitors are confronted with an unexpected sight. A new and abstract layer is created to showcase history.
