Ground-breaking ceremony for the Brainergy Hub at Brainergy Park Jülich
Nov. 28, 2024
Kick-off for one of the largest structural change projects in the region
Since 2021, the team has been planning the construction of the Brainergy Hub in Jülich under the leadership of the architectural firm HENN with Latz+Partner and office Happold. The construction of the Brainergy Hub innovation and start-up centre in Brainergy Park Jülich has now begun.
The centrepiece of Brainergy Park Jülich combines innovative hybrid timber construction and open-plan design to create a unique hub for research, start-ups and exchange. The plan is to create around 300 jobs directly in the Brainergy Hub, with a long-term goal of a total of 4,000 jobs in the entire Brainergy Park Jülich by 2035. In addition to modern offices and project rooms, the Brainergy Hub will also have a catering area, flexible event spaces and a roof terrace. The DGNB Gold certification emphasises the commitment to environmentally friendly construction and resource-saving energy use. The open space design, which integrates a lake and park, also makes the Brainergy Hub an attractive meeting place for the Brainergy Park community and external visitors.
Representatives from politics, research and business gathered for the ground-breaking ceremony at the Startup Village that opened this year in Jülich, the precursor to the future Brainergy Hub. The Startup Village Jülich already offers space for ten startups to further develop their innovative start-up ideas at Brainergy Park Jülich. ‘The Brainergy Hub will strengthen the economic power of the region and establish the Rhenish mining area as a location for sustainable technologies. ‘The Brainergy Hub is a crucial building block for the economic future of our region,’ emphasises Axel Fuchs, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Brainergy Park Jülich GmbH and Mayor of the City of Jülich. ‘With this centre, we are creating a platform that opens up new perspectives for the Rhenish mining area. The Brainergy Hub will bring together people and ideas that will make our region fit for the future and help shape structural change. The jobs created here and the opportunities for dialogue and research will strengthen the region in the long term and establish it as a location for future-proof technologies.’
