SAP Garden Landscape Receives Prestigious Green GOOD DESIGN Award 2026
March 5, 2026
Our project SAP Garden Landscape in the Olympic Park in Munich has been awarded the Green GOODDESIGN Award 2026. The internationally renowned prize is presented by the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and the European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies, recognizing outstanding projects in sustainable design worldwide.
The project received the award in the category “Green Urban Planning / Landscape Architecture” and is therefore among the internationally recognized examples of contemporary open space design.
The Green GOODDESIGN Award is considered one of the most important international awards for sustainable design. For the 2026 edition, architectural, landscape architecture, and urban planning projects from more than 40 countries were submitted. An international jury selected outstanding examples of ecologically and sustainably oriented design – including the landscape of the SAP Garden. The award honors projects that combine ecological responsibility with high design quality.
The open spaces of the SAP Garden are part of the sensitive further development of Munich’s listed Olympic Park. The aim of the design was to carefully integrate the new sports arena into the existing park landscape while creating high-quality public open spaces.
The design follows the landscape architectural principles of the Olympic Park and reinterprets them in a contemporary way: generous green spaces, clear pathways, and open areas for gathering connect sport, recreation, and landscape to form a new urban open space.
The program is part of the long-established GOODDESIGN Award, founded in 1950 by Eero Saarinen and Charles and Ray Eames, and today considered one of the most important design awards worldwide.
This year’s exhibition and the official award ceremony will take place on Friday, March 20, 2026, at the European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies in Athens, Greece. All awarded projects, including the landscape architecture of the SAP Garden, will be documented in the Green GOODDESIGN 2026 Yearbook.
We are very pleased about this international recognition of our work.
