The SAP Garden in Munich opened its doors for the first time on 27 September.
The SAP Garden is a 12,500-seat indoor arena in the Olympic Park in Munich. It is the home ground of the ice hockey team EHC Red Bull München and the home ground of the basketball team FC Bayern München Basketball GmbH.
The new sports arena was embedded in the existing park landscape of the listed Olympic Park and creates design references to the neighbouring Olympic Stadium with its striking tent roofs.

Grand opening
SAP-Garden’ had it all at the first sporting event in one of Europe’s most modern sports arenas. Four-time German ice hockey champions EHC Red Bull Munich welcomed the Buffalo Sabres on 27 September at 8:30 pm. The Red Bulls’ game against the Sabres is part of the “2024 NHL Global Series Challenge Germany presented by Fastenal”. In a spectacular opening game, the Buffalo Sabres prevailed 5:0.
On 28 September, at the sold-out ‘Open Day’, visitors were able to get an idea of the multifunctional sports arena in the middle of the Olympic Park and immerse themselves in the sports world of the SAP Garden.
