The New Promenades at Bremerhaven’s old commercial harbour are opened!
Melf Grantz, chief burgomaster of Bremerhaven and Martin Günthner, minister of trade and commerce, labour affairs and harbours in Bremen, inaugurated the redesigned open spaces with a walk along the renewed quays together with the people involved in the project. The so called “Research and Development Mile” which was planned and realized by the team Latz + Partner / Latz Riehl Partner, is part of the urban redevelopment project “Geestemünde approaches the water”. After its opening and revitalization the harbour, formerly a no-go area, connects the swingbridge at the Borriesstraße with the Weser dyke and the new offshore-security training centre at the flooded dry-dock.
