Bavarian Landscape Architecture Award - Experimental Landscape Architecture & Building in Detail
Sept. 30, 2024
We are very pleased that our project Kita Goldhofer – open space for the conversion of a private villa and extension for a Reggio daycare centre with kindergarten has received the award in the category Experimental Landscape Architecture & Building in Detail.
The Bavarian Landscape Architecture Award recognises projects and concepts in Bavaria that are characterised by innovative, sustainable and climate-friendly outdoor and landscape spaces of high quality, both in new and existing buildings.
Ministerial Director Daniel Oden, on behalf of the jury:
“Children are playfully sensitised to the topics of recycled materials, natural resources and ecological diversity. The tall existing trees provide shade in a natural way. Large meadow areas invite creative play. Formally designed hedge elements with ‘viewing windows’ differentiate spaces from one another. The grassed area offers experience in growing vegetables and herbs. Although the site is only equipped with a few play elements, it gives the children natural opportunities to try things out and play. A tepee stands in the centre of the area. As with the building, materials from the old stock are also used here. For example, the old roof tiles are used as edging around the entrance area.
It makes you want to be a child again – growing up with the realisation that old things don’t belong on the scrap heap, but can continue to be used. Big, important questions such as ‘How do we conserve our resources, transform the old and preserve historical traces?’ are answered here in a playful way: Just like that!”
