The Munich main plant is being rebuilt – in order to secure the transformation towards electromobility and digitalisation. A competition for a master plan concept started in autumn 2021 – after a process of revision, the results are now published.

The task of the competition with a total size of 44.4 ha was to develop a master plan concept. The planning competition “BMW Munich – urban production” was aimed for a design that was both functional and convincing in terms of urban development. The focus was on efficient and competitive production on the one hand, and on the connection of the plant with its urban surroundings on the other.
