Spreepark Berlin – Back to the Future

1 décembre 2016

Latz + Partner lead the team Riehl Bauermann Kassel – Latz + Partner Kranzberg commissioned by Grün Berlin GmbH after a Europe-wide call for tenders. Experts from various disciplines will join in an exceptional and exciting planning process: LOMA architecture landscape urbanism (architecture), Projekt M GmbH (consulting on tourism), Bollinger + Grohmann (structural engineering), Florian Matzner (art and culture management) and chezweitz (scenography).

“Kulturpark Plänterwald (Culture Park Plänterwald)“ opened in 1969 and was the only amusement park of the former DDR (GDR German Democratic Republic). After its closure in 2001 the 24 hectares were fenced and became neglected. Buildings and fun rides fell into a deep sleep lasting nearly 15 years. Now, a high-quality concept with touristic appeal for use and operation shall revive the historic structures and attractions and shall connect them with new elements of art, culture and leisure. The park of the 21st century will emerge out of the history of the place. The former culture park’s tradition, density and form language will be translated into a modern and up to date context.
